Tetramethyl Ammonium Chloride Promotes the Electrochemical Behavior of Hemoglobin on the Bare Silver Electrode

Nov 17, 2021

Tetramethylammonium chloride is a commonly used cationic surfactant that can be used as a catalyst or promoter in electrochemical analysis. Hemoglobin is an important biomolecule, and its electrochemical behavior on a bare silver electrode can be improved and enhanced by the presence of Tetramethylammonium chloride.

The presence of Tetramethylammonium chloride can provide chloride ions, thereby improving the electrochemical reactions of hemoglobin molecules. On a bare silver electrode, the electrochemical behavior of hemoglobin primarily involves oxidation-reduction reactions. In the presence of Tetramethylammonium chloride, the oxidation-reduction peak current of hemoglobin increases, and the oxidation-reduction peak potential also undergoes changes. This promoting effect can enhance the electrochemical signal of hemoglobin and increase the detection sensitivity.

By utilizing the electrochemical behavior of hemoglobin on a bare silver electrode and the promoting effect of Tetramethyl ammonium chloride, hemoglobin can be analyzed electrochemically. Common methods for this analysis include cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry. These methods determine the hemoglobin content in a sample by measuring the oxidation-reduction peak current and peak potential of hemoglobin.

Additionally, Tetramethylammonium chloride can also regulate the electrochemical behavior of hemoglobin, such as influencing the interactions between hemoglobin and other substances, such as drugs and ligands. This provides possibilities for the analysis of hemoglobin in pharmacology and the development of biosensors.

In summary, TMACL can promote the electrochemical behavior of hemoglobin on a bare silver electrode, enhance the electrochemical signal of hemoglobin, and be utilized for the electrochemical analysis of hemoglobin and other related applications.
