Route of Synthesis for Tetrabutyl Ammonium Hydroxide Aqueous Solution

Tetrabutyl ammonium hydroxide 10%, 25%, 40% or 55% in water belongs to Quaternary ammonium hydroxide, a strong organic alkali with a molecular structure similar to ammonium hydroxide, but stronger in alkalinity than sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide. Mainly used as phase transfer catalysts in organic synthesis chemistry. Route of synthesis for Tetrabutyl ammonium hydroxide aqueous solution is as follows:

 

Ammonia Water + Tetrabutyl Ammonium Bromide + Purified Water

Electrolysis

Tetrabutyl Ammonium Hydroxide aqueous solution

                         Concentration or Dilution

Tetrabutyl Ammonium Hydroxide 10%/25%/40%/55% aqueous solution
