The Development History of Quaternary Ammonium Salt Disinfectants
Apr 12, 2019In 1915, Jacobs reported the synthesis of quaternary ammonium salt disinfectants and conducted research on sterilization, pointing out that this type of disinfection has a certain bactericidal ability, opening a chapter in the history of quaternary ammonium salt disinfection. However, it has not been taken seriously by people.
In 1935, Domagk from Germany studied the bactericidal performance and chemical structure of this type of disinfection in relation to bacterial production, which aroused great interest. In the same year, Wetzel was used in clinical disinfection practice.
Subsequently, research on these types of disinfection drugs followed one after another, gradually becoming widely used for skin and mucous membrane disinfection in hospitals, surgical hand washing disinfection, and medical equipment disinfection. They were also used for disinfection of various public places and equipment in various industries, as well as for mold prevention of industrial and agricultural crops, hygiene and disinfection of livestock houses, aquaculture, algae killing, preparation of plastic antibacterial agents, and preparation of compound disinfectants.
