Jan 05, 2024Tetramethyl ammonium hydroxide pentahydrate, TMAOH pentahydrate, TMAH pentahydrate, Cas no. 10424-65-4, belongs to Quaternary ammonium hydroxide. It is a colorless transparent crystal that is highly hygroscopic and has a certain ammonia odor. It has strong alkalinity and can quickly absorb carbon dioxide in the air, forming carbonates into organic strong alkalis with strong corrosiveness. When heated to a boiling point of 130 ℃, it is easy to decompose into trimethylamine and methanol.
TMAOH pentahydrate mainly used as silicone rubber, methyl silicone oil additives, and polarographic analysis reagents. In terms of organic silicon, it serves as a catalyst for dimethyl silicone oil, benzyl silicone oil, organic silicon diffusion pump oil, solvent-free silicone molding plastics, organic silicone resin silicone rubber, etc. In terms of analysis, it is used as a polarographic reagent, a ashless alkali for precipitation of many metal elements in product purification, and is commonly used as a brightener, cleaning agent, and etching agent for computer silicon wafer surface in organic silicon wafer production.
TMAH pentahydrate should be stored in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sparks and heat sources. Prevent direct sunlight. Packaging sealing. It should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, and carbon dioxide, and should not be stored together. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate materials to contain leaked materials.
