Main use of Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride

Feb 26, 2024

Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, DDAC, is a kind of quaternary ammonium salts with various functions such as sterilization, disinfection, and mold prevention, which is widely used in different fields. The following are some of the main applications of DDAC summarized by Ahsuperchem

  • Disinfectants and fungicides: Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride has strong bactericidal and disinfection capabilities, which can effectively kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Therefore, it is often used as a disinfectant and bactericide in hospitals, laboratories, food processing plants, drinking water treatment, and swimming pools.
  • Surfactant: Due to its excellent surface active properties, DDAC is often used as a surfactant in products such as cleaning agents, detergents, hand sanitizers, shampoo, and shower gel. It can reduce surface tension, making dirt and grease easier to clean and flush.
  • Antimold agent: Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride has a strong inhibitory effect on mold and fungi, and is therefore widely used in fields such as wood preservation, coatings, adhesives, and textiles. It can prevent the growth and reproduction of mold, and extend the service life of the product.
  • Agriculture and animal husbandry: Didecyldimethylammonium chloride can be used as a disinfectant in animal husbandry, for cleaning and disinfecting animal drinking water equipment, farms, and livestock houses. In agriculture, it can be used to kill pathogens, fungi, and weeds, protecting the growth of crops.
