An efficient method for synthesizing Tetramethyl ammonium chloride

Tetramethyl ammonium chloride has a wide range of uses in many industries, as an emulsifier, fixing agent, wetting agent, softener, anti-static agent, phase transfer catalyst, etc. It is widely used in daily chemical, textile, printing and dyeing, mining, plastic processing, petroleum extraction, petrochemical and electronic industries. An efficient method for synthesizing Tetramethylammonium chloride---Trimethylamine gas reacts with chloroform gas in anhydrous solvent to synthesize Tetramethylammonium chloride. The chemical reaction equation is as follows:

The method for synthesizing TMACL specifically includes the following steps:

a. Add anhydrous solvent (anhydrous methanol, anhydrous ethanol, or anhydrous ethyl acetate) to the reaction vessel, and then introduce a certain amount of trimethylamine gas;

b. Close the reactor and slowly introduce an equivalent amount of chloroform gas while stirring, maintaining the pressure inside the reactor below a certain value;

c. Continue stirring until the pressure inside the reactor drops below a certain value, then begin to reduce pressure and concentrate, and recover anhydrous solvent;

d. Observe the situation of the materials in the reaction kettle, stop concentration after the materials become viscous, and then cool, shake, and dry sequentially to obtain the product of Tetramethylammonium chloride.
